Red Marker Barcamp Melaka
Barcamp Melaka, 14-15th November 2009

BarCamp Melaka is a new events ever organized by The Malaysia Information Technology & Open Source Carnival (MITOSC). This is the very first time that BarCamp going to held at Melaka, Malaysia. Basically, BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants who are the main actors of the event. Generally, BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences (open, participatory workshop-events), whose content is provided by participants. We will focus on Internet & Technology, Business and Engineering  in general. Our barcamp's camper is target more than 350 people. We are welcome people around the world to join Barcamp Melaka. We've get a fantastic venue - Multimedia University (MMU Melaka Campus), Malaysia and chosen an exciting and ambitious date (BarCampMelaka will be held on November 14th & 15th 2009).

Usually, there is no particular theme. Participants who want to share ideas and knowledge either of any subject, in any field, could register for time and room to host their session. Then, all people could come to event for free and join any session that they are interested in. If they find that the session uninteresting, they could just leave and go to the next one. Recently, there is a successful barcamp being held at Johor,Malaysia which name as BarCampJB. Lots of local participant as well as oversea likes Singapore came and join the event.

Actually, the topics for the BarCamp are very wide and open. The first BarCamps focused on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. These days, the format has been used for a variety of other topics, including public transit, health care, and political organizing.

Besides, this BarCamp Melaka will be opened for everyone to join and hopes to give a chance for student to interact among themselves and the participants as well. Next, this will indirectly helps promote Multimedia University to the community too.

Green Marker FOSS.my 2008 - Malaysia's Premier FOSS conference!
The first ever technical FOSS conference in Malaysia initiated by grassroot community!!
http://planet.foss.org.my/fossmy-logo.png

FOSS.my 2008 is Malaysia’s premier Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) event. Whilst this is our first go at it, we aim for this to be an annual event bringing together professionals and enthusiasts from Malaysia, Singapore, Asia and the rest of the world for a two day grassroots driven FOSS conference.

FOSS.my is different from other events in that we focus only on FOSS and that this conference is purely non-commercial. There will be no marketing/sales talks by vendors (we are very strict on this!) so all that is presented is FOSS goodness! Instead, vendors will be encouraged to speak on the FOSS technical aspects of their projects/tools. This approach works better as it benefits all through knowledge sharing within the community.
